Make boiled eggs in a hot spring

This is the source of Senami Onsen, and the hot spring water is pumped up through pipes that run underground. Steam gushes out, and the distinctive aroma of Senami Onsen fills the air. Freshly gushed hot spring water is also channeled into a wooden trough right next to the facility, allowing you to make boiled eggs in about 15 minutes. You can prepare the eggs yourself or buy them from a shop along the road. From here, the hot spring water goes down to each inn, including Shoufuusou.

Walk through the old town

Murakami’s old town is quiet. Old wooden buildings are still used as homes and stores. It’s nice to just look at them from the outside, but once you enter a store, you’ll see that it has a deep structure. There is a doll festival in March and a folding screen festival in October, and each store displays its dolls and folding screens that have been passed down for generations for free, making it easy to visit the stores. From around December, the sight of salmon hanging to dry from the eaves of private homes is a seasonal feature of Murakami.
